Our Forest Holiday Camp has low adult to child ratios, with specialist staff. Children should come wearing old clothes you don't mind getting messy. Also needed is a packed lunch, snacks, water bottle, raincoat/ puddle suit (waterproof trousers are great if you have them) hat, gloves and scarf, waterproof boots or wellies, and spare clothes in case of a fall in the mud. Layer up! It’s going to be chilly, we can take off but can’t add on once on camp. Activities include den building, whittling, campfire, crafts, free play and more! We'll have a guaranteed indoor space to be ready for whatever the weather.
Camp notes
Please be aware that this is a child led programme and by signing up to the camp you accept there is managed risk involved.
Each day at 9:00 we will meet in the car park and do our register ready to head to our base. You are welcome to leave once we’ve registered in your child; you don’t have to wait for us to go into the woods- just let us know you’re leaving. We will meet all parents there at 3:30 too.
*Please do not walk around the site. Please ensure you follow the speed limit of 5mph when driving on site- Blackhills nor Kanga are responsible for any damage to your car from the track or wildlife.*
If you want feedback on your child’s day, please hang around at the end for a quick chat to the Forest School Camp Leader or one of the camp team. Drop off and pick-ups are busy times, and we will always prioritise those who have had first aid or behavioural issues during the day.
NO PEANUTS on camp please due to allergies. If your child has any food allergies or intolerances, please ensure a leader knows.
Kit list- all to be named where possible please.
- Long trousers or leggings. Please don’t put them in shorts/dresses/skirts. Ticks and midges can be rife in the woodland and long trousers helps prevent bites. It also takes away chances of cuts from brambles and nettles.
-Warm layers i.e. vest, long sleeved top or t-shirt and hoodie or jumper. Even on a warmer day the woodland can get chilly because of how shaded areas are.
-Raincoat
-Waterproof trousers are great if you have them.
-Walking boots or Wellies. NO OPEN TOE SHOES/CROCS. We may refuse attendance due to safety if wearing these.
-Spare clothes inc. socks and underwear (you never know what will happen).
-Lunch, Snacks & Water bottle; they don’t stop all day and burn lots of calories so please pack lots of food. We can fill up drinks during the day.
-NO DRESSING UP COSTUMES. These are highly flammable and with the nature of the club they will be asked to be removed.
We cannot guarantee clothes won’t get damaged or VERY dirty so please send in items you don’t mind getting dirty. If the child is worrying about their clothes all day, it’ll ruin their forest experience.
Please be aware- Late arrivals of after 10 minutes from drop off/pick up charge may receive a late penalty fee and may not be able to access camp.
Please note our holiday clubs now enforce a strict policy prohibiting the use of mobile phones and electronic devices on camp. If a child must bring a phone / smart watch they will be asked to leave it with their belongings turned off until home time. More details on our policies can be found on our website.
